Description:

RCLJ 6501 - Clovis Rocks! - Stars of The Clovis Music Festival Clovis, New Mexico really is a magic place, especially during September when the Clovis Music Festival takes place and hundreds of music fans descend on the town to attend festival events along with the residents. There is more magic too for visitors at the Norman Petty Studios on West Seventh, where many of the artists on this album recorded, and which remains just as it was in the 50s and early 60s. The Clovis Music Festival was founded in 1985 by Vi Petty following encouragement from our own John Ingman, who had travelled to Clovis to help organise the archives there following Norman Petty’s death in 1984. The festival continued for several years after Vi Petty’s death and was revitalised in 2005 by the Clovis Chamber of Commerce, returning as an even more high-profile event thanks mainly to the enthusiasm of CCC director, Liz Eisenbruan. This CD is a celebration of the festival and the artists who have appeared in Clovis in recent years. Some tracks will be familiar while some have not been on general CD release before. The CD is accompanied by a 24-page booklet with notes by John Ingman detailing the history of the festival and the stars featured on the CD. This product also marks the first release by an associate US company, Rollercoaster Records LLC, which will be headed by Liz Eisenbraun and based in Clovis, NM. It is anticipated that releases from the US company will feature both material licensed from Rollercoaster UK and material sourced from US labels and producers. ...........................................................................................................
