For decades, Nashville has attracted artists and writers looking for fame and fortune in Country Music. Roy Acuff, Hank Williams, Dolly Parton and hundreds of others found business connections that did not exist in any other city in the USA - and, although they wrote their own songs, they also sometimes interpreted those written by other songwriters. This CD is an example of songs from and for Music City USA. Compiled by songwriter Roger Rounce, it highlights some of his songs as recorded by the cream of Nashville's vocalists backed by some top 'Nashville Cats'.
The cover picture of this CD could have been entitled ‘Leaving Music City’, and it's a sight many aspiring writers and performers might see as they leave, defeated, because the chance of an outside cut (recording) by a major artist had now gone from slim to almost impossible.
It is difficult to imagine another industry where the general public are prevented from knowing what else could be on offer to them by the actions of corporate greed, blatantly pushing their own product to the exclusion of all others.
This CD goes some way to redress the balance ... some top quality asongs and talented singers you may never have heard of, but who deserve an outing on a commercial product!
