Sadly, Johnny Duncan died while this
album was being
prepared, but he did
approve the project and spent
many
hours with Keith Glass. Keith
also wrote
the booklet notes and produced
four new
tracks by Johnny, which would
have been
the basis for an album of
completely new
material. We have added these
to a
selection of Johnny's best
recordings from
the 50s. The booklet notes
settle once
and for all Johnny Duncan's
origins and
the story of his
'disappearance' to
Australia. Note that the tracks
listed
below are a revised version of
the CD
contents as printed in our 2000
catalogue.

BOBBY VEE
Down The Line

Bobby says this is his own favourite album and who are we to argue?
More rockabilly styled than anything he's done before, these
recent recordings of Buddy Holly songs confirm his respect and
admiration for Holly & The Crickets.
With backing by Bobby's own band The Vees (featuring his
sons) he rearranges and breathes new life into the songs.
This album was originally released in the US on Bobby Vee's
own label; we have added extra tracks and a 54 page booklet
detailing his life in music, with notes by John McPhee.
Many unpublished photos are also included.
Down the line; Rock me my baby; Rave on; Midnight shift; Look at me;
Tell me how; Love's made a fool of you; It doesn't matter anymore;
I'm gonna love you too; Blue days, black nights; Love is strange;
Changin' all those changes; What to do/Crying waiting
hoping/Learning the game; (You're so square) Baby I don't care;
Fool's paradise; Maybe baby; Holly hop; Words of love/Listen to me

All My Loving; Do
You Want To Know A Secret; I'll Keep You Satisfied; Bad To Me; World

Your Hand; From Me To You; I Wanna Be Your Man; This Boy;
Please Please Me; Fool On The Hill ; And I Love Her; With A Little
Help From My Friends; Michelle; Eleanor Rigby; Yesterday; Blackbird
A fine CD from a great British jazz pianist. Includes the
tracks from the original 1964 album, plus some previously unissued
recordings in the same style from Roger and his Trio. Probably
the first (and best) album of Beatles covers, jazz style!

Vince had some good
luck early in his career and was a TV regular in the 50s; he also
missed out on a big hit due to management problems. Here are
some highlights from his recordings made between 1957 and 2003
including audience favourites from his live appearances like "It's
Only Make Believe" and "No Other Baby", early skiffle from the
Vagabonds, even a tribute to Vince from his son Simon!.
Fascinating photographs with fellow Drumbeat and Oh Boy stars and
the Vince Eager Story by Rob Finnis appear in the accompanying
booklet.
