| This might be
called ‘The Real Davey Graham’, for it’s Davey at his best,
the way he really was, rather than under the influence of big
studio producers and session musicians - and it’s one of our
best-sellers. Recorded in an informal setting by ex-Vipers
washboard genius John Pilgrim in his room at Hull University.

THE
DAVID BOX STORY
Barcode: 5 012814
030246 RnR
 |
 |
| At school in Lubbock,
David Box told a friend he wanted to be "just like Buddy
Holly". He almost got his wish - he had distinctive talent and made
some fine recordings during a short recording career, cut short when
he died in a chartered small aircraft. Unfortunately the five
45's released during his lifetime failed to reach the charts,
and for most people he will remain unknown. However he was admired
by many for his vocal talent and guitar virtuosity. This, David's
first album, includes those recordings that were issued during his
career and some previously unreleased recordings from studio
sessions (including some under Roy Orbison's direction and many
produced by Ray Rush and Ben Hall) together with home recordings and
demos. Listening to this CD you will wonder both how it was his
records were not hits and just what he would have achieved had he
lived. Includes extensive notes by John Davison-White and many
photographs. Don't Cha Know; That's All I Want From You; Some Sweet
Day; I've Had My Moments; If You Can't Say Something Nice; Valley Of
Tears; Slippin' And Slidin'; Girl On My Mind; Waitin' (On The Steps
At School); I Do The Best I Can; Waitin' (So You'll Be Mine);
Apache; I've Got A New Love; Hey! Baby; Ready Teddy; Dream Girl; I
Can't Remember When; Bittersweet; Love Someone; Heartbreak; If You
Can't Say Something Nice; Sweet Sweet Day; Teardrops; It's Not Too
Late (To Wish For Love); Blue, Baby Blue; Solid Ground; I Can Smile
Again; No One Will Ever Know; Little Lonely Summer Girl; I Can't
Remember When; I've Had My Moments; Funny How Time Slips Away |

| Big Al on some
recent recordings that hark back to his roots but prove he’s
still current too. Some great R’n’R and R&B styled tracks
recorded with Al’s own band. Purists were wary at first but
anything Al does has that Downing magic and this is no
exception. "Should be in the charts" – Yvonne Trengove. Long
trucking night; Sneaky freaky people; Please help me Mama;
Daddy’s words; Give a hand to the lady; I always come back to
loving you; Everybody’s got a dream; Don’t even think about
it; Be bop cat; Love’s just a suitcase in my hand; Mama was a
