DAVE COLLETT TRIO - Down The Road Apiece: RCCD 6036

THE DAVE COLLETT TRIO - Down The Road Apiece: RCCD 6036 - A double CD album. Born in Bath, Somerset, Dave Collett soon became known as The Bath Boogie Stylist. Here are two fine albums of blues and boogie-woogie recorded by the Dave Collett Trio, which have been unavailable for some time. Introduction to the CD from Dave Collett ... After my National Service I could play fair boogie woogie piano but little else. I lived in Bath then and wangled my way into Joe Brickell s Spa City Stomers. Joe seemed to welcome anybody in his band and I became Bath s Boogie Stylist . We played at RAF camps around Bath and Joe s shows; they were not just shows, they were Rhythm Cavalcades . Many jazzers got their start with Joe. Next I played in Acker Bilk s first Paramount Jazz Band. We broadcast, made records, appeared on TV and toured Poland. This was followed by the Stainer Collett band, where, despite the Trad boom, we played in a mainstream style including guitar and saxophone. We did well for some years but eventually outnumbered the audience... I then joined the Avon Cities Band in the chair vacated by John Critchinson and stayed for the next 37 years. At the same time I played gigs with the Dave Collett Trio and Howlin Winds - this was rockier than usual, and we played regularly in Paris. TRACKS~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Disc 1 1.
