WAYNE, Terry & The Dukes - THE TERRIFIC! - RCCD 3030.
Terry Wayne might be described as Britain first Rockabilly Cat; in the 1950s he heard – and recorded – songs like ¨Teenage Boogie¨ and ¨She's Mine¨; songs that became popular in the UK rockabilly revival in the 1970s when most of us heard them for the first time. A&R men, not Terry, decided on the arrangements for these songs and probably lost Terry the opportunity of becoming a major star in the 50s. They just didn't get it, and there are few examples of great British rockers, like some Tommy Steele and Billy Fury recordings, that really 'cut it'. Fortunately, Terry made a few demo and broadcast recordings with his band, The Dukes, that came pretty close to The Real Terry Wayne. So here are those 50s recordings plus a few more recent tracks and the best of his UK 45s. As you will hear, he really is - The Terrific Terry Wayne...
